Tuesday trigger and a passion for papertrey

Isn't this picture for the Tuesday Trigger over at Moxie Fab great!

As I looked at the picture I could just imagine myself there with the windows wide open to the sea breezes on a lovely summers day. I love how the bright colours just pop right off the white, so went with that for my card.

I used the lovely everyday button bits stamp set from PTI to create my focal point. Wouldn't it be great to be floating in one of those balloons on the sea breeze.

I am also going to pop this card into the latest passion for papertrey challenge to use polka dots. Love PTI and who doesn't adore polka dots!

Card - PTI raspberry fizz, hawaiian shores, harvest gold
Ink - PTI smokey shadow
Paper - PTI bitty dots basic 2008 and 2009

Curtain call color challenge act 45

I needed a card today to send to my Mum who is going in to hospital later this week for a minor investigative operation. I used the colours from this weeks curtain call challenge.

The colours this week are great but also isn't that vase of flowers just the sweetest. So I used the picture as my inspiration too and chose a blue card base and then picked out the green from the flowers for my flower embellishment.

Hope Mum likes it!

Flower - PTI die
Stamps - Hero Arts s5213 sots and flowers, PTI everyday classics

Embellish magazine colour challenge

When I saw the latest embellish magazine colour challenge to incorporate squares, I immediately remembered this scrapbook page. I love how the squares cascade the colour across the page. I don't have many purple coloured papers, but after a bit of a rummage I found some older ones from SEI.

I'm thinking of giving this card to a friend's 12 year old. I'm hoping it is still a bit girly while equally appealing to the "tweenager" in her who has just started High School.

Products used:
Card - PTI true black
Paper - SEI Bridgeport
1" punch - Dovecraft
Butterfly - Cricut with the home accents cartridge
Stamps - PTI signature greetings
Versamark ink
Heat it up seafoarm white embossing powder
We R Memory Keepers corner chomper
Rhinestones - PTI moss

Simple

Way long ago before I started making my own cards, I used to buy very clean and simple cards. As I set out on the journey of making my own creations I think I got lost along the way and my cards were quite detailed and in my current opinion a bit fussy. As I browsed through blogland over more recent times, I rediscovered my love of all things CAS. The creations which stopped my mouse finger in it's tracks were always CAS, such as this one by Silke. So here is a card of mine, inspired by Silke, the box she made in particular. You don't get much more CAS than this!

Products used:

Inks - PTI simply chartreuse, hawaiian shores & terracotta tile
Stamps - Hero Arts thank you messages, verbena & fiesta flower
Papermania adhesive stones

Thanks so much

There are some lovely fabric and felt flowers sold by the big manufacturers, but I've seen other bloggers make equally fab versions themselves. So I thought I'd have a go. I combined some hawaiian shores felt with a scrap of fabric and tied up with a button to create this little embellishment for my card.

Products used:
Stamps - PTI turning a new leaf and tags for spring (thanks so much sentiment)
Ink - PTI simply chartreuse
Flower die - PTI
Felt - PTI hawaiian shores
Button - PTI
Stash - twine & fabric scrap

SSD#39 and polka dots

I so love green. You might've guessed that from the name of my blog! I love all shades of green, but at the moment the fresher the green the better in my opinion.

I did this card using the great sketch from Skipping Stones Design, sketch number 39.

While I was completing the card I realised it also fit very well with the latest challenge from A Passion for Papertrey to use polka dots.

Stamps - PTI signature christmas, Hero Arts K5251 snowflake tree
Card - PTI simply chartreuse, Craftwork Cards white
Paper - PTI bitty dots 2009

hey there

I enjoyed the challenges from earlier in the week, so tried another one. The Embellish Magazine challenge is to use the colours sea foam, kraft peach and cream in a cutesy clean style.

This is my card.

I used PTI aqua mist, melon berry, kraft and vintage cream card and the cute little chick from their everyday button bits set. I made the chick's body with a scrap of melon berry polka dot paper and a googly eye. Some velvet ribbon from my stash finished everything off nicely.

Teacher's birdhouse

I recently started making a few teacher Christmas things. I know, it's only August, but I find that I'm chasing my tail as Christmas approaches, so thought I'd make a start. I found the most adorable apple keyring on this etsy site. I packaged it up in a little birdhouse which is big enough that I can add a few more bits and pieces as I find them. All I need to do then is make a nice little tag to top it off.

Products used:
Card - PTI kraft, SU! chocolate chip, old olive and real red
Paper - SU! Christmas Jingle
Punch - SU! two step bird
Ribbon - SU! real red
Twine - PTI

Teacher card

Hi, I've been working on an idea for a simple teacher card. I drew on ideas from this card and also from this gift set.

I thought I could make a few of these and stamp a bunch of library cards with different sentiments. I would then have a quick go to teacher card and I could choose one of the library cards and pop it in to the little pocket. I like the clean and simple lines of the card and love the deep impression of the book print plate, but I am so tempted to dress it up a bit!

Products used PTI unless stated:
Book print impression plate
Stamps: Library Card, Teacher's Apple, Signature Christmas
Card: pure poppy
Ink: pure poppy, SU! chocolate chip, ripe avocado, smokey shadow
Simply Chartruese button
SU! twine

challenges

Seeing as i'm trying new things i thought i'd go for a challenge or two. I searched some favourite haunts and came up with a handful of possible challenges I would like to have a go at. I combined the bright colours of the Curtain Call 44 challenge with a sketch from 2S4Y and then made it a thank you card to fit in with Kristina's Finally Friday challenge!

This is what I came up with.

I didn't have poppy parade card, so used real red instead. Also instead of daffodil delight card I used a scrap of Bo Bunny paper which seemed a good match.

Products used:
tempting turquoise
real red
Bo Bunny Flutter Butter
PTI Signature Greetings
Papermania adhesive stones

Thanks for looking.
